WORLD HERITAGE WILDERNESS

Touring Tasmania’s Western Wilderness provides you with first-hand access to some of the most spectacular and pristine wilderness on earth. The Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area covers an expanse of land from Cradle Mountain at its northern tip to the southern coast of Tasmania.

When touring western Tasmania in a Rentforless hire car, you will access the region via either Lake St. Clair, Cradle Mountain or the North West Coast of Tasmania. Taking in historic little towns like Queenstown and Zeehan is a genuine highlight and when you visit Strahan, you will enjoy multiple activities at your fingertips.

Cruise into the rainforest on a Gordon River Cruise, taste local salmon and see one of the beautiful waterfalls in the area. You can even enjoy a penguin tour on Tasmania’s west coast too.

This area is truly some of the the best touring country in Australia.

HANDY HINTS

While touring in western Tasmania, here are a few handy hints to remember:

Driving times may appear short when you look at a map but remember that many of the roads in the area are through mountainous areas and driving can take longer than expected. This is a positive however, because there’s plenty to see and explore along the way.

Mobile phone service is not guaranteed in all parts of western Tasmania. Best coverage is provided by Telstra but be prepared to experience some locations without service.

The weather in Tasmania’s western wilderness is changeable… It’s difficult to have some of the most beautiful rainforest on the world if you don’t have rain! Remember to bring a jacket and embrace the weather!

Macquarie Harbour on Tasmania’s west coast, produces top quality salmon. Coupled with the rest of Tasmania’s great fruits of the sea, make sure you try some local seafood when touring western Tassie.
